Beyond the Journal offers readers of Young Children a number of articles, resource lists, and other documents online that are not included in the print issue. (The same publication guidelines and peer review process used for print articles applies to online articles.) And sometimes an article has such broad appeal that we include it in both Young Children and Beyond the Journal. Typically the online pieces in Beyond the Journal are useful and timely resources for the early childhood community and for others interested in the education and development of young children.
Cluster theme articles: We cannot always include in Young Children all the articles related to an issue's cluster theme. In Beyond the Journal readers can find further information in worthy, theme-related articles.
More resources: Some authors may want to share book lists, planning formats, samples of children's work, or handouts suitable for staff or family workshops. We often include useful resources like this in Beyond the Journal to make them more widely accessible.
In-depth articles: In some cases we have space in Young Children for only an abbreviated version of an article. By including such articles in Beyond the Journal we can make them available in their entirety.

Feel free to share these materials with colleagues and families, and use them for staff development as long as you are distributing them without charge.
