The NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct is a living document that guides educators as they make decisions regarding their responsibilities to children, families, and colleagues. NAEYC's Board will soon review draft revisions to the Code. A draft of the revised Code is posted online at www.naeyc.org/statements/ethicalconduct.asp.
These online resources can help readers become familiar with the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and how early childhood educators can use it to analyze ethical dilemmas-situations in which there is a choice between values and responsibilities, situations that can be resolved in multiple ways.
This issue of Beyond the Journal includes an article that appeared in the journal and a survey regarding a possible supplement to the Code for administrators. A resource list gives links to other Web sites with pertinent information on ethics in the early childhood field. In addition, there is a longer version of a series of interviews with children's book authors.
